Q. I don't have an icon named Desktop Themes in my Control Panel.

A. Windows 98 and Windows ME have themes built in. Windows 95 users need to buy either Microsoft Plus! or an equivalent to use desktop themes. One of the best is Desktop Architect -- and it's free!

Q. What do I do with the theme after I've downloaded it? or I don't know how to install the theme.

A. Once you've downloaded a theme from my site save it onto your desktop. Then double click on the file. A window will open asking if you want to extract the files. Click on extract and change none of the default settings. The files will extract to C:\. This automatically creates any necessary new folder, installs the theme and makes it appear in your Desktop Themes pulldown menu (Control Panel, Desktop Themes). If your themes are kept in another directory or drive you will have to extract the the files to whereever you keep them.

If you downloaded a [name of theme].zip file, you will need an archive program such as Winzip. Extract all the files to C:\ (or whatever drive your themes are kept) and make sure the "use folder names" box is checked in Winzip. The theme will install automatically as described above.

Q. I can't hear the sound files?

A. Certain of my themes use highly compressed sounds saved as MP3 wave files. You need to install the free Microsoft Windows Media Player to hear the files. For further details on this issue try visiting The Theme Doctor's emergency room.
